Where to Stay at Sossusvlei and Sesriem Namibia
Sossusvlei is one of the most popular places to visit on any holiday or safari itinerary to Namibia. For early access to Sossusvlei many people choose to book accommodation inside the park at Sesriem, however sometimes this is not possible due to the limited number of spaces available and budget contraints. As a general rule the closer your hotel, lodge or camp site is to Sossuvlei the more expensive your accommodation will be when compared to other places to stay of a similar type.

Since Sossusvlei is best viewed early in the mornign before it gets too hot, or close to sunset avoiding the mid day heat you really want to be staying as close as possible to the park gate at Sesriem,for this reason we advise you book your accommodation here at least 1 year in advance. The good news if you can't get they accommodation type you want inside te park is that there are a couple of places to stay just outside the park gate at Sesriem, and more within an hours drive.
If you are willing to do a bit of extra driving on the day you visit Sossusvlei, or if you are looking for an overnight stop within easy driving distance on the day before or after your Sossusvlei visit then there are some campsites and lodges at Solitaire about 80km north of Sossusvlei, or at Tsauchab, Bullsport, Naukluft and in the south you will find the private Namib Rand Reserve which offers an alternative but no less spectacular Namib Desert experience.
Please note that Naukluft Camp is situated in a section of the Namib Naukluft Park south of Solitaire but north east of Sossusvlei. There is no direct access Sossusvlei from this section of the Namib Naukluft, oftern referred to as the Namib Naukluft Zebra Park, instead you must exit (about 60km north east of Sesriem) and re-enter the park at Sesriem. When planning your Namibia trip remember all camps inside Namibia National Parks and park gates open at sunrise and close at sunset.
