Sossus Dune Lodge Sossusvlei
Accommodation at Sossus Dune Lodge consists of tented chalets built on stilts.
Each of the Dune chalets can sleep two adults, usually in two beds, and have a spacious en-suite bathroom with a toilet, shower and twin vanity sinks. Basic toiletries are also provided.
The guest rooms at Sossus Dune Lodge are built on stilts with canvas walls in a wooden framework along the back with floor to ceiling glass along the front giving stunning panoramic views over the surrounding Namib Desert and the red dunes in the back ground.
The roof on each room is built from thatch to help keep the guest accommodation cooler, especially during the day when temperatures at Sossusvlei soar. A fan is also provided to add some welcome air movement when the chalets are at their hottest in the mid to late afternoon.
A wooden walkway leading from the main reception and lodge area connects the guest rooms, with chalets 1 - 12 are situated closest to the reception area which means less walking, while the slightly longer walk required for chalets 13 to 25 (which includes two honeymoon chalets) is compensated for by even better views over the dunes.
Rooms are allocated on check-in, so it is worth asking for a chalet close to the reception, or further away when you arrive if you have a particular preference.
Guests at Sossus Dune Lodge can make their own tea or coffee at the tea and coffee station provided to sip while sit on the viewing deck or in the seating area at the front of the chalet to enjoy the views over the Namib Desert.
